Nutrition 101 comes into play
I love learning about nutrition. In fact, I have taken so many nutrition and dietetics classes that I feel pretty knowledgable on the subject. Without fail, in each class I took, the professor always stressed a certain fact when we were learning about body image. The fact is this, a mother's body image plays an important role in how children feel about their own body image. Children are so observant. Not every day but a few times a week, when I am getting ready in my bathroom, I will pull my scale out from under my counter and weigh myself. I feel like I am trying my best to be healthy and teach Jace healthy habits. However, this morning when I walked into my bathroom to find Jace stepping on the scale, it hit me that he is already picking up on the things I do. I guess I need to be more mindful of what I could be teaching him.

That is too funny. It's true though, these kids pick up on things. Example-my father in law just went on a massive diet (Drs told him to lose major weight or he's die) and lost over 40 pounds in about 1-1/2 monhts. The other night I gave Jaxon dinner and he said, "Mom, you gave me too much food. I'm on a diet." I just about passed out. I explained to him that he's a little young to be on a diet and that if he eats right and excercises his whole life, he'll never need to be on a diet. . . . . . And the other day I "caught" Kyara looking in the mirror and saying that her stomach is ugly-oops, I better watch what I say around my kids.
Lucy gets up on our scale all the time too. Don't worry too much about that yet, I think they just think it's cool to have something little to step on, and numbers pop up!
