Laughing, Spitting, and Counting

Jace has been hilarious that last few days. He is copying everything we do and interacting more with us all the time. The other night Jace was in such a silly mood. He was so giggly so J kept tickling him and he was laughing harder than I ever remember. We didn't get the peak of it but this is still cute.

If you remember back a few months ago, J taught Jace how to "clear his throat". Just yesterday I got home from a Church meeting and J had taught him the spit part. Watch closely and listen carefully, J clears his throat and Jace spits.

I read somewhere that in order to help your child deal with frustrations, you help them understand what to expect by either routine or something you say at certain times. Jace has never liked getting his diaper changed so when I read that information, I began a few things to help him know it wasn't bad and wouldn't last long. At the end of every change I started counting "1" (as I put his pant leg on one leg) "2" (the next leg) and "3" (as I stood him up and pulled up his pants). About a week ago he started counting back with me. This has helped so much when he starts getting agitated on the changing table. I love listening to his voice.

What a good idea to count...and a smart cookie to be repeating it already :-)! I love his belly laugh too!
