Introducing.....MELINDA DOLLS

Here's the story: About 15 years ago (I was about 11 or 12), I was living in Arizona with my family: my two sisters, one brother, my step dad the incredible musician, and my mom who is one of the most creative people I know! She had a dream one night about these dolls.....they were wooden paper dolls. As time went on she was able to turn her dream into reality and MELINDA DOLLS WERE BORN. At this time in my life I was an avid babysitter. I would take these dolls wherever I went and they were always a hit. I began giving them as gifts to younger cousins and the kids I would babysit and each time they were accepted with excitement. I love these dolls....I think they are such a cute idea.

Just recently my mom has spiced up the dolls a bit and they are cuter than ever. They are beautifully handmade and handpainted which makes them so special. She even has a website now that explains all about them. Not only has this been her dream to have them available to others but mine as well. They have such cute stories about each one of them and are perfect "quiet" activity (I always tell her that they would be perfect for places like church and airplanes, because they provide lots of entertainment without taking up a lot of space or making lots of noise).

I could go on forever.... and I probably will soon, but PLEASE TAKE A LOOK. Let me know what you think. We are just so excited about this new MELINDA DOLL adventure. For easy access just click the Melinda doll link on the left of the blog.

It is so interesting and funny to see these dolls on your blog. I am almost 40 and I still have a set of these exact same dolls from when I was a kid, my children play with them. Did you mom get the idea, from a set she had as a child?

Actually, she and a cartoonist friend drew them up 16 years ago. I'd love to see the set you have to compare them.
